2010 Ford Transit Connect is here!

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

The Transit Connect has been a big seller for Ford, having sold more than 600,000 to customers in 58 countries. Did we mention the Ford Transit Connect won North American Truck of the Year at this years Detroit Auto Show!

The decision to bring the Ford Transit Connect to the United States will help small businesses that work out of vans and trucks. It has an international look and feel, so seeing these on the road will lead to many curious minds wanting to evaluate and consider all the value it brings at a starting price of $21,475.

The Ford Transit Connect is also a huge success because of the value and savings it brings to companies all over the world. In the UK especially since the current price of diesel is about $7 per gallon. Companies are looking for ways to cut costs and the Connect is being attributed to that goal.

For some companies fuel costs can be their second highest expense falling just under labor costs. This is why the competition between car manufacturers to gain even a percentage of a mile per gallon can determine the leader when it comes to fuel efficiency. If you look at the cars and trucks that compete for this coveted top spot, there’s only a 1-2 mpg difference between the leader and the 2nd and 3rd place positions.

The Ford Transit Connect can produce tremendous savings especially when being driven in city streets where there’s a lot of stop and go traffic. That is where commercial vehicles become very costly to businesses, gas mileage suffers in these types of environments.

In addition to it’s mechanical attributes, and unique design, the Connect enables a better use of space and access. These can also bring businesses significant return on investment by making it easier for the technician who’s doing service calls and is constantly in and out getting parts. Upon opening the cargo doors to their standard 180 degrees (255 degrees is an option), the floor to ceiling is nearly 5 feet high (or 59.1 inches) and a load width of 47.8 inches.

The capacity for cargo, the price, the innovative design all adds up to a vehicle that will likely emulate it’s international fame this summer in the US.
