MyFord Touch – Most Fuel Efficient Routes Via Navigation System

Friday, April 30th, 2010

The history of the ‘car’ shows each decade being marked with technological advances and just as in any business (and automakers on a larger scale) automakers are vulnerable to the economical and social issues not only in the country in which they are located but on a global scale as well. Nowadays automakers seek to offer vehicles that serve both the customer’s good and the social good; a tall order indeed. However, in order to offer customers some of the same fuel saving advantages of hybrids in gas engine vehicles, more research was in order. Enter Ford Motor Company and the all-new Eco-Route Nav feature.

Vehicle navigation systems have been being refined since the 1970s. MyFord Touch is proof positive of this statement and now offers an extension to their already safety enhanced educative hybrid system. Here is how the Eco-Route Nav feature works:

The MyFord onboard computer offers the customer feedback granting information about what types of driving and which routes will offer the best fuel economy. Feedback educates the driver about ways to save money, time, and possibly the aggravation of taking the wrong route.

The MyFord screen shows the driver a read out of present miles per gallon and also a history of fuel economy in graph form. In other words the vehicle teaches how to drive and in what direction to get the best fuel economy.

New gadgets in vehicles not only make consumers more fuel and financially savvy; they are also a fun way to learn. Ford understands the psyche behind the American love affair with the automobile and engineers new technology while taking into consideration different aspects of the consumer’s personality. The onboard computer is also a tough task master when it comes to the environment. If the driver is good and drives responsibly the screen offers healthy green leaves and flowers; however, drivers that are deemed bad by the computer will watch the green leaves whither and die.

Eco-route Nav, a great way to learn more about how vehicle and driver interact to create fuel economy or fuel waste and will be offered to consumers owning vehicles with gasoline powered engines in 2011.

A word from our General Manager:

Evergreen Ford has a long history of Community Service, beginning years ago with the Evergreen Ford Friends and Family Foundation.  A  program that supported young people in need of medical care, dental or vision care, and help with athletic fees to name a few.  Fundraising through auctions and golf tournaments enabled our store to give food and gift certificates to hundreds of families in need over the Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays.  These funds also created monies and support from other businesses in the Issaquah area to provide backpacks and school supplies again to hundreds of children K-12 in the Issaquah School District and some from the Lake Washington School District annually.

Evergreen Ford employs one person part time to do Community Relations and Community Service.  This person actively participates in Rotary locally and District 5030 and at times on an International level.  This employee has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship for her contribution on Evergreen Fords behalf for serving the International President of Rotary.

  • Evergreen Ford contributes to the local Kiwanis auctions.
  • Evergreen Ford supports The Challenge day races both in Sammamish and in Issaquah benefiting the organization LEO or Life Enrichment Opportunities and Ski for All.

Evergreen Ford is greatly interested in supporting other businesses and nonprofit organizations in both Sammamish and Issaquah and puts manpower on these volunteer jobs, not just funding. Evergreen Ford employees actively participate in person at other events around our city and Seattle. We are so proud that our employees have such a high level of awareness and participation in giving back and contributing to our community at large. They understand that this creates a healthy environment for all to thrive in personally and businesswise.

2011 Ford Factory-Installed Remote Start Option on Super Duty

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

Most customers that buy Ford Motor Company’s overachiever, the F-250 Super Duty, have a specific agenda in mind; they need a workhorse of a truck offering technology to get the job done and in a comfortable environment. With a suggested MSRP at $28,020 this truck offers almost anything a customer could want including a way to achieve perfect cabin temperature even before the owner opens the door.

Ford’s factory-installed remote start is offered as an option for Super Duty customers and will be offered in Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles at a later date. The Super Duty is the first vehicle to offer this option which will be available on the 2011 Ford Super Duty spring, 2010.

Ford’s design team works hard to determine the needs of its customers. Knowing the auto is an integral part of their customers’ lives; Ford works to find a way to make the truck driving experience as pleasurable for the consumers as possible. Having a cabin that is either already warm or in the summer months cool is an option Ford Super Duty customers can now experience. Here is how it works:

The 2011 Super Duty will offer a factory-installed remote start system which along with the automatic climate control will monitor cabin temperature and give the customer the warmth or coolness desired in a short amount of time. According to Ford, “heating, heated seats and defrost activate on colder days; air conditioning, cooled seats kick in when the weather is warm.”

With the environment on everyone’s minds these day, Ford engineers found the remote start system actually “reduces hydrocarbon CO and nitrogen oxides emissions by up to 75 percent.” This is achieved as the catalyst is preheated on cold morning starts.

The 2011 F-250 Super Duty, already a workhorse of a machine that comes in several cabin options and style trims, now offers even more to customers that know the truck they drive has to be road tough but with all the comforts and technology of the office.

Survey Shows Renewed Trust In American Cars, Especially Ford

Thursday, April 22nd, 2010

ford trust

In recent months and years, U.S. automakers have rallied that American cars are now on equal or better footing than Japanese (and Korean) cars in terms of quality, reliability, and durability.

The campaigns, along with sea-change improvements in some of the products coming from Detroit, as observed by TheCarConnection.com, seem to have worked. With critically acclaimed success stories like the 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid, Ford (NYSE:F) has gained significantly with U.S. shoppers; the percentage singling out Ford as the automaker producing the best quality cars doubled since 2006, from nine percent to 18 percent.
